How to Make an Easy Halloween Charcuterie Board
Happy October! I’m really getting into the Halloween spirit this year. Mainly because my kids are old enough to actually enjoy Halloween and they are obsessed with all the spooky decorations and costumes.
I have been loving making charcuterie boards for lunch and dinner. I recently decided to create themed ones for each season and all the holidays. So of course I had to include Halloween! Today I’m sharing how to make an easy Halloween charcuterie board. Make sure to follow me on Instagram @valuemindedmama for more family friendly inspo!
Inspiration
The first thing I did was get some inspiration from Pinterest. I knew I wanted to have a more “Halloween” themed board versus a “fall” cheese and fruit board. So I planned on a lot of Halloween candy and Halloween themed snacks. But I wanted to see if there were any other easy options or things I was missing.
Shopping
So basically I just searched for the key ingredients I knew I wanted. The ghost chips, bat pretzels and candy eyes are a perfect example of this. Google is a wonderful thing!
Arrangement
So the loose, messy items that needed containers, like the candy corn and candy bones I knew were going to be in a bowl, so I put those on the board first. Then I chose bigger items to go around them and tried to make a circle around those bigger pieces.
I also knew I wanted the ghost cheese cut outs and the “BOO” cookie front and center. Then I just filled in the empty areas with random things that fit the size (grapes & mummy dogs). For smaller spaces, I filled in with candy pumpkins and chocolate eyeballs.
Spooky Feel
For an extra touch I added some candy eyeballs to the grapes. On their own they’re just grapes but add some eyes and they’re now fun, little monsters.
I added pumpkins as well because that is just classic Halloween decor. Also lit some tea light candles and added some spiderwebs for a more creepy, spooky feel. Spider rings on the board, and we’re all set!
The important thing to remember about a Halloween Charcuterie board (or any charcuterie board for that matter) is to have fun with it!
You could go super simple, fancy or make it as fun as you want. Since this is a kid’s board, I wanted it to be fun while also having some healthy elements.
I make them healthy snack boards most of the time, so for this one, I thought it was okay to add some not so healthy treats as well! What treats would you add to your Halloween Charcuterie Board?
Check out my adaptions through out the years. Just getting inspiration from other Halloween Snack Boards I see and mixing with my personal favorites (like mummy pigs in a blanket & Halloween pretzels)
2020 Halloween Charcuterie Snack Board
This board is probably my personal favorite. I loved the white cheddar skeleton bones that Cheetos came out with last year. I love adding the ghost and bat chips. The pretzel & cheese broomsticks were fun to make for the first time on this board too. And always gotta add the candy eyes!
This was an easy Halloween snack board I threw together with any Halloween snacks I had left. Put it in a fun Halloween tray (mine is a plastic coffin from Walmart!) to add some flare.
2021 Halloween Charcuterie Snack Board Ideas
My most intricate Halloween charcuterie snack board yet! We’ve got pretzel & cheese broomsticks, cheesy witch fingers, cookie spiders, RIP tombstones, spider cheese dip, banana ghosts, “pumpkins”, spider crackers, bones with eyes, my favorite mummy pigs in a blanket and bagel pizza mummies. This would be sooo fun for a kids Halloween party or use leftovers for a fun Halloween school lunch.
Halloween charcuterie snackboards can come in all sizes. This is from a collab I did with Barilla pesto and I wanted to give it a Halloween theme and show how these festive seasonal boards the can be simple but still fun.
2022 Halloween Charcuterie Snack Board Ideas
Give me all the little spooky snacks! Peanut butter cup & Oreo bats, ritz pb spiders, cheese broomsticks, orange pumpkins, mummy pizza bagels, lil Smokies mummies, yogurt pretzel bones. Love adding new things and coming back to our favorites each year.
Pumpkin Charcuterie snack board
Tried a new thing where I did a color snack board theme! I wanted to do a pumpkin snack board, so I got our favorite orange foods. Cantaloupe, carrots, cheese, cheese balls, goldfish, cheese-itz and orange peppers. Add some “black” fruit for the eyes & mouth and you’re all set.
